Library Finds: Vol. 7

Seems like someone raided the Teen Reads ultimate reading list. I officially dub 2008 the year of my extended adolescence. Outlook of growing up: bleak.

1) Sorceress by Celia Rees (This is the sequel to Witch Child!)

2) A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
3) The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale

4) Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

    2) Lady Jane

      1. I thought about getting The Goose Girl last time I was at the library, but I decided to wait until next time!

I listened to A Certain Slant of Light last year, and it was…interesting. Can’t wait to see what you think!

      2. HA, I just picked up The Goose Girl yesterday after reading Shannon Hale’s adult fiction novel, Austenland (which I will review on my blog soon). I just love the cover.

      3. Eva:
Was A Certain Slant of Light interesting good or interesting bad? It has one heck of a creepy cover; some sort of suicidal Ophelia thing going on. I wouldn’t fall asleep next to this book….

        Stephanie:
I love the cover of The Goose Girl too. This will be my first time reading Shannon Hale. If I like this one, I plan on reading Austenland. I’ll look forward to your review!

      4. Mmm, Cary Elwes! I have a Thing, okay? One of my favourite films ever is Another Country from 1984 in which he stars.

I’ve been reading a lot of YA lately too. I wish my library were better than it is, though! I mostly read in English, but my library hardly has any books at all that aren’t in Swedish, so I don’t go there very often. I miss the library where I used to live.

      5. Cary Elwes’s best movie I think is The Princess Bride. It’s the only one of his movies I’ve ever seen

      6. First time visitor and commenter, your digs here really impress me, T.Y. I wish I knew as much about literature as you know about film. I’m bookmarking The Lit Connection and plan on making your site a frequent stop.

Cary Elwes has been so terrible in so many movies and almost completely cut out of others (like Days of Thunder and Twister) that I’m stunned to remember he was also in Lady Jane.

      7. Ruthanna:
I like the Princess Bride, like not love. Cary Elwes is also in Robin Hood: Men in Tights, which is the first movie I noticed him in…because of his beautiful head of fluffy blonde hair. He’s always in these parodies.

        Joe Vladez:
I am honored to have you bookmark me! I’m not saying Cary Elwes is my favorite actor in the world, but I always pay attention when he’s in a movie…so says the girl with a thing for hair. Cary Elwes is also in a very obscure movie called Leather Jackets in which he plays some gang member (I know what you’re thinking), but it’s the only movie in which he plays a badass. He was okay…

Guys, how many times have I mentioned Cary Elwes’ hair? Too many to count.
