Books I covet

The following are a list of new YA books I desperately want to read but can’t because my library system does not carry them.   And believe me, I’ve been checking every day.   Is it the recession?   Have libraries put a hold on acquiring new titles?

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Explosionist by Jenny Davidson

Sovay by Celia Rees

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson

  1. I’ve been lurking here for ages, but wanted to ask, have you tried using Interlibrary Loan? I don’t know about your library, but mine has an online form to fill out, and if the book you want is available anywhere in the United States, it will be shipped to your library where you can pick it up.

For some reason, too, libraries can be extremely slooooow in acquiring new titles, so it just might be that your library is acquiring the titles and they haven’t arrived yet. I’ve sometimes waited a month or more for a new book to come in.

    Hope that helps!

  2. oh The Hunger Games is good, so gripping. I hope you manage to track it down.
I’m hoping someone got me the Graveyard book for Christmas, there ahve been many hints 🙂

  3. I’ve been dying to read Hunger Games as well, my library doesn’t have it. Luckily they did have a copy of The Graveyard Book and I’m reading it at the moment!
